Training and Qualifications
I have longstanding library, information and database experience, as well as helpline, brokerage and outreach expertise, and the knowledge, competency and credibility I have gained from over thirty years of working life are underpinned by my education and professional training.
In addition to my BA (Hons) in English and Latin Literature from the University of Warwick, I have an NVQ Level 3 in Advice and Guidance, and I have completed local government in-service training courses on subjects such as Web Standards, Writing for the Web, Data Protection and Equality and Diversity.
I undertook the Chapterhouse Editorial Skills course in 1997 and am an associate of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (SfEP), the UK's professional organisation for editors and proofreaders.
News and Developments
I value Continuing Professional Development. Last summer I completed an Open University course on Study Skills for International Students, and I believe that this deepened my understanding of the challenges faced by international students studying here in the UK. In recent months I have completed a similar course on Academic Integrity, which has helped me to brush up on my skills in preparing citations and bibliographies. I know from my experience of working in libraries that students struggle with this, particularly as referencing is evolving so rapidly in the world of social media.
If you would like to find out more about the broad range of skills I have developed throughout my career, you can take a look at my profile on LinkedIn.
